1. Measure your waist and hip size before choosing a diaper. You want to make sure that the diaper fits snugly but not too tightly around your body. A diaper that is too small can cause discomfort, leaks, or skin irritation. A diaper that is too big can sag, bunch up, or slip off. 2. Fold the diaper properly before putting it on. If you are using a tab-style diaper, gently fold it lengthwise with the back sheet facing outwards. Do not touch the inside of the diaper to avoid contamination. If you are using a pant-style diaper, stretch it widthwise and spread its ruffles to prepare it. 3. Place the diaper on front-to-back. If you are using a tab-style diaper, lie on your side and place the diaper between your legs, with the larger portion facing your butt. Fan out the rear end so it fully covers your butt. Then roll onto your back and pull the front side up to your waist. If you are using a pant-style diaper, step into it and pull it up like regular underwear. 4. Tape or adjust the diaper. If you are using a tab-style diaper, secure it in place with the adhesive tapes provided. Most brands have four tabs: two on the bottom sides and two on the top. You may want to angle the tab slightly upwards to improve the fit around your legs. If you are using a pant-style diaper, check for any gaps or wrinkles and smooth them out. 5. Adjust the edges for your comfort. Once the diaper is on, make any necessary adjustments for your own comfort and protection. The edges of the diaper should fit into your groin area to avoid chafing or rashes. You may have to fold the edges over slightly or tuck them in. You may also want to pull the bottom edges downward to create something like pant legs.
